Description

Inspired by his trip to Kenya in the 1970's Bowie teamed up with artist Beezy Bailey in 1995 to produce a show entitled “New Afro/Pagan and Work: 1975-1995” which was held first 'The Gallery' in Cork Street, London, in April 1995 and at then at the 'Daniel Thorens Gallery' in Basel, Switzerland, in May 1996.

This black resin lifemask mould of of David Bowie was created in Bailey's studio whilst working on the “New Afro/Pagan and Work" exhibition.

It is only one of five existing.

The mask is of solid black resin measuring 24 x 13 cms (9.5 x 5") weighing just under 2kgs (4.41 pounds)

Sold together with a collection of printed images showing Bowie in Bailey's studio during production of the pieces used in the show, including this mask.

 

CONDITION

The piece is in overall excellent condition. The only blemishes are tiny 5mm chip to the right edge below the chin ans one or two smaller similar ones on the forehead. The back has a screw inserted in order for it to be hung.
