The 'White Album' album celebrated it's 50th anniversary last year with the release of a well-received archive box set which as well as introducing the album to a new audience, cemented its reputation of being one of the most important rock albums of all time.

Signed LPs by The Beatles, or individual members of, are extremely rare and desirable. Those that are known to exist come mostly from the 1963/early '64 period when they were at their most accessible. As the 1960's progressed, public appearances by members of the group became less frequent and they became harder to reach on a personal level. It is therefore extremely rare to find an original late-period record with a contemporary signature.

This UK 1968 1st stereo pressing of the 'White Album' (PCS 7067/8) is signed and dedicated on the right inside panel of its gatefold cover (numbered on the front No.329068) by John Lennon in blue ballpoint pen:  'Happy Xmas Nigel, from John Lennon and Yoko'.

John appears to have added 'Ono' after 'Yoko' (the impression of it is visible), however the ink has been erased over time.

Provenance: Believed to have been the property of a London security officer who was involved in looking after The Beatles in London at the time.

All labels include the 'Sold in UK...'  wording. Disc 1 omits the 'An EMI Recording' text.

CONDITION

Cover: GOOD

The cover is fully intact with some staining to the left corner areas and general light storage wear. There is discolouration around the raised wording on the front panel but the number is clean & readable. The inside of the gatefold is clean overall with some of the staining from the front visible towards the upper and lower central hinge area. There is also a slight ripple to the left panel. The signature is positioned nicely above the four portraits of the the group and Lennon's dedication and signature is clear and bold. The 'stereo' indicator is present in the upper right corner of the rear panel. The top opening edges have moderate wear, as does the spine.

Discs: VERY GOOD

Both discs has been played a number of times but all playing surfaces are clean & glossy bearing only a few superficial surface marks and no major issues.

Poster: FAIR

General handling wear with a tear to one fold.

Photos: VERY GOOD +

All are clean with no pin-holes or tape. There is a horizontal crease towards the lower part of John's picture.

Inner-sleeves: FAIR

Intact but with tears to the centre window and one small seam split on each.
