Description

This incredible sounding early pressing dates from initial November 1963 release on the black & yellow Parlophone labels: PMC 1202

Theses initial 1N/1N matrix copies were withdrawn on day-of-release due to customer complaints of jumping.

The side 2 label carries the quickly amended 'Jobete' publishing credit for the song 'Money'.

The same label also spells track 3 as 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me', (as does the cover) which was later changed to 'You Really Got A Hold On Me'

The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 1 label.

Matrices: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N

Stamper codes: 3/AR & 1/A

Vinyl weight: 161g

Housed in the earliest front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with the darker front panel image which was lightened on all subsequent issues.

Complete with 'Use Emitex...' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

CONDITION

Labels: EXCELLENT

Both are bright & clean with nothing more than a collection of light spindle trails around each centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

A really well-looked after copy retains clean, deep-gloss playing surfaces with no noticeable marks in strong daylight and only a few harmless wispy paper-type hairlines beneath halogen light.

Audio: EXCELLENT +

A wonderful sounding pressing with such energy and excitement. This cherished copy retains  those characteristics and plays cleanly and clearly. Aside from a touch of wear to the introduction of 'Money' there is little to fault and so much to enjoy.

Cover: VERY GOOD +

Clean, strong & fully intact with light storagewear to the front panel but nice unbumped corners. There is a tiny nick to the front opening edge and a small name written on the clean rear panel, along with a few other age-related blemsihes, but all flipbacks, seams and the spine are undamaged.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Crisp & clean with no writing, tears or seam splits.
