With the withdrawal of the '-1N' 1st pressing run, EMI had to catch-up very quickly to meet the demand for this LP in late 1963.
This 'contract' pressing was made by Pye Records with EMI supplying the -7N/-7N pressing plates from their Hayes factory.
This pressing was heavier than EMI's own. It is also characterized by the sharp 'knife-edge' profile of the disc's edge and a slightly raised label area.
The disc has the standard '2nd pressing' black & yellow Parlophone labels with the catalogue number: PMC 1206
Matrices: XEX 447-7N & 448-7N
Pye stamper codes: 3,12 PB(machine stamped) /A (hand etched) & PB 2,11 (machine stamped), A (hand etched)/ A (hand etched
Vinyl weight: 168g
Housed in a 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed front laminated, tri-flipback mono cover with the 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me' spelling on the rear tracklisting.
Complete with original 'Use EMITEX...' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Labels: EXCELLENT +
A clean & unworn set showing only a small handful of light spindle trails around each centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Superb clean & deep-gloss playing surfaces which apart form a single 3cm light fingernail scuff are unmarked in strong daylight. Closer examination directly beneath halogen light reveals only a few harmless wispy paper-type hairlines from the inner-sleeve.
Audio: EXCELLENT +
This copy has been barely played and all tracks sparkle cleanly and clearly with no traces of any audible wear or distractions.
Cover: VERY GOOD
A fully intact example with general handling & storagewear commensurate for its age with no major issues.
Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD +
Moderate age-toning but otherwise clean & fully intact.
